OUR CLIENTS

CLIENT STORY // Afrisam

As the leading supplier of concrete materials in southern Africa, AfriSam has been supplying the Lesotho nation with superior quality cement for over half a century. The company established a physical presence in Lesotho when it opened its distribution centre in Maseru in 1999.

This year AfriSam has, once again, demonstrated its commitment to the economic development of Lesotho and its people by establishing the first cementitious manufacturing facility in the

country.

This forms part of the company’s growth strategy and its commitment to enable development on the African continent by providing access to quality building materials.

AfriSam has received the required authorisations from local authorities to construct a blending and packing facility with an initial production capacity of 200 000 tons per annum at the company’s existing distribution centre in Maseru. This production capacity can be increased according to the cement demand of Lesotho. Following a ground breaking ceremony held on 9 March 2016, construction of the plant has commenced and is planned to become operational in the third quarter of 2016.

Over and above the benefits derived from the products that will be produced, a cement plant can be a powerful factor in economic and social development. “It is AfriSam’s intent to make use of Lesotho citizens as far as possible for any requirements relating to the operation of the facility”, says Stephan Olivier, CEO of AfriSam. “This includes for example, making use of local transport companies to transport the required raw material as well delivering products from our plant to customers. A new pallet repair facility will be established on site and will be outsourced to a local Lesotho start-up business.”

CLIENT STORY // Cedar Paint

Over the past two years, Cedar Paint was actively involved in research and development.  A series of innovative, practical product was designed and a series of direct to market product launches were planned for the Retail market.  Most recently, the Cedar 3 in 1 Coat was released into the Retail market.  This coating applies directly to raw plaster, cement brick or pre-painted surfaces as a one coat system.  3 in 1 Coat drastically reduces the application cost, considering you no longer need a primer and a second coat.  Just consider the labor saving features in using a coat of this nature.  The product comes in a twelve color offering, including white.  3 in 1 Coat launched in many retail stores with positive sales results with ongoing sales effort to extend the product into the market.  The next generation 3 in 1 Coat will launch in June, offing a premium Sheen finish and a seven to ten year lifespan depending on the region.

Originally offered in 2015 in the Premium Range, the Cedar Roof and Waterproof was the first of the new lines, designed to be a roof paint which seconds as a water proofing option.  The two in one value allows retailer to stock less SKU’s, saving shelf space and opens cash flow, while offering the consumer a multi service product.

Damp Repair Plaster Primer followed as the next innovative item to market.  Acting as a Damp Repair which repels water while allowing the substrate to breath out, effectively offering a ‘one way valve’ to release moisture, creating a one way breathable Primer.

The Ultra Identity Matt is ground-breaking technology.  This coating is a first to market coating that is infused with Micro Elements, allowing one to identify the Brand once it is painted out on a substrate.  The value in this ability to identify the band should be considered in the Architectural field.  The Identity Matt is also Hydrophobic, meaning that liquids cannot stick to the coating, water is repelled from the surface creating a self-cleaning Ultra-Premium product for the inside or outside of a property.
